5th International Workshop on Methane Hydrate Research & Development |

We are pleased to announce that the 5th International Workshop on Methane Hydrate Research will take place at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, Edinburgh from 9 - 12 October 2006. This will be an excellent opportunity for international scientists from different Institutes, Universities and Commercial Organisations to show-case their expertise and develop collaborations. The Workshop will consist of a combination of Plenary presentations/discussions and Breakout sessions, with the objective of identifying Challenges and Opportunities with respect to methane hydrate research and development. The Workshop is being organised by the UK Administrative Committee on behalf of the International Committee on Methane Hydrates: Mr Nicholas Langhorne, ONR Global: nlanghorne@onrglobal.navy.mil The technical programme will be finalised by the International Scientific Committee. The objective is to cover the national development and address various topics with respect to methane hydrates, such as; Exploration, mapping & seismic characterisation; Physical property and modelling; Hydrate as an energy source; Geohazards; Seafloor methane flux; Climate change; Ocean drilling, etc. The third Administrative Committee meeting was held at Centre for Gas Hydrate Research, Heriot-Watt University on Tuesday 14 March 2006.
